Call to arms!

Volunteers! We need you now! Construction in the park is going full speed and we need all the help we can get. Construction, painting, decorating, logistics, we need help with all of it. There will be work parties in the park almost every day this week. And all day marathon work parties this weekend. So grab your friends and come on down help us build the Nightmare!

 

Volunteer Information

 

Without our amazing volunteers Nightmare at Beaver Lake would have no way to accomplish our amazing mission. We are always on the lookout for dedicated and helpful individuals to add to the crew.

We are currently seeking volunteers in many areas including:

  • Acting
  • Security
  • Set design
  • Line control
  • Drivers
  • ... and MUCH MORE


All volunteer actors must be at least 12 years old. At age 12, we require that a parent or guardian must act on the same set with the child. At age 13, a parent or guardian must remain on the premises while the child is volunteering. Don't worry mom and dad, we have numerous fun volunteer activities for adults as well!

If you have an interest, you can sign up with us and pick the areas where you think you can make a difference. In the EVENT LISTING AND REGISTRATION section to the right you can see the current volunteer opportunities and how many of each time slot we need to fill.

To volunteer, just click the 'Sign In To Manage Your Profile' button at the bottom of the form (you might need to scroll down if there are many opportunities open). If you are not already registered with our volunteer tracking system you will be directed to do so. Otherwise, enter your login information for the CERVIS system and then you can start volunteering!

Please see volunteer documents below and bring completed forms to training or otherwise deliver to Nightmare staff. Returning volunteers - please note, all required forms must be completed each year. 

 

Required for all volunteers 17 years old and under

ALL volunteers must read the Volunteer Handbook thoroughly. By signing your application, you are acknowledging that you (and a parent or guardian if under 18) have read and understand the Volunteer Handbook. 

 

The Actor Handbook is a supplement to the Volunteer Handbook. By signing your application, you are acknowledging that you (and a parent or guardian if under 18) have read and understand. As an actor you are responsible for reading, understanding, and complying with all rules and regulations set forth in both of the Nightmare at Beaver Lake Handbooks.

Haunted Happenings - Nightmare at Beaver Lake Newsletter - Fall 2016

Nightmare at Beaver Lake Construction

Construction begins at the Beaver Lake Park on September 24th at 10am. We will meet at the Beaver Lake Lodge for assignments. Please dress for the weather, bring work gloves, and a drill driver if you have one. Construction runs daily until the show opens on October 14th. Please sign up for your build on the CERVIS volunteer management system. The CERVIS portal is on the volunteer page of www.NightmareAtBeaverLake.com. If you enjoy working with tools, please consider signing up for the tear down as well. De-Construction starts on November 1st and ends on November 10th.

As with all volunteer positions, you must be registered in CERVIS in order to complete the volunteer signup. Please also download and complete the volunteer application, and hold harmless forms. Bring your signed documents to your first day of volunteering.

New Volunteer Orientation

1 day of orientation is mandatory for those folks with less than 2 years at the haunt. Orientation will be at Sammamish City Hall on September 17th and 18th. -  Orientation will be from noon – 2 PM, with an improv class after, for those wishing to get a head start on their actor training.  Improv will be from 2:30-4 PM both days.   If you are 12, 13 or 14, your parents are encouraged to attend with you.  Bring your friends and family down to show them what we are all about!  Have all of you signed up on our CERVIS registration page?  It can be found on the volunteer page at www.nightmareatbeaverlake.com.  

Mandatory Actor Training (returning actors please take note)

Actor training will be held at Beaver Lake on October 8th and 9th, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily.  We will have advanced training from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. We will take you through the show to familiarize you with the new sets and new characters.  Please make this a priority.  We are accepting actors ages 12 and up.  12 year olds must have a parent or guardian act in set with them; 13 year olds must have a parent on site each night. This is worth repeating.  ALL actors are required to attend one of the training sessions, as we have added new elements to the show we would like to share with you, as well as new safety features.  Please bring a water bottle and your own snacks.  Lunch is not included in actor training.  Dress for the weather, as we will be outside. If you have any acting training or casting questions please contact jeannie.peck@scare.com.  Have all of you signed up on our CERVIS registration page?  It can be found on the volunteer page atwww.nightmareatbeaverlake.com

Calling all makeup artists!

We are having our annual make-up training on Saturday, October 8th, 2016 from 3pm-6pm.  Please come prepared to put makeup on yourself and others.  This year we will be open October 13 (press night), 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 & 31 please be sure to bring your availability as space is limited each night.  Even if you have done make-up in the past you should still attend the training so you are aware of this year's make-up needs.

 ***CHANGE***

IF you are wanting to act and do make-up on the same night you will need to make prior arrangements with the Casting, Wardrobe and Make-up departments and show up early enough to get ready before the make-up department opens, you must be able to do your own make-up on yourself OR you need to go into set at one of our full scare sets that go out at 8pm.

Casting notes

Casting for the show will start at 5 p.m. nightly.  We will be casting 12 year olds with parents first, then those over the age of 18, then followed by the younger ages. There will be an opportunity after each show to pre-cast for the following night.   

Casting assistants

As in the past, we will need casting assistants.  This is a perfect position for those parents that need to be on-site.  Training will be at 3:30 pm Saturday October 8th and the 9th.  Please meet on the steps of the Lodge.  You only need to attend 1 or the other.  Casting assistants provide constant monitoring of the actors for water, bathroom breaks and issues.

ScareCare

ScareCare is onsite child care for the children of our volunteers.  We will need several volunteers to run this.  You will need to be 16+ to volunteer for ScareCare. Children will be logged in and out nightly.  On Halloween night, you have the opportunity to take the kids Trick or Treating in the neighborhood. Please contact or see Jeannie if you are interested in ScareCare.  ScareCare providers are required to register on CERVIS.

Security Training

Would you like to be part of the show, but don’t want to act?  Are you a parent that needs to be on-site for your 13 year old? Security may be the job for you.  We have security stationed throughout the show nightly. Security training will be October 8thand 9th, at 3:30 p.m.  on the steps of the lodge.  Please register through CERVIS for whichever day you can make it. Security is open to 18 and up.  If you are 16 or 17 with an interest in law enforcement are also encouraged to apply.  

Attention Scare Net shoppers... This year Scare Security has stepped up and will have 2 way communications with each set. We will issue new radios to each room leader and they will offer the following features.  

A Panic button, to be used in the event of imminent danger or other such issue. This will broadcast your location and send help running.

A Casting Help button will alert a Casting team member to wander out your way to see what your whining about this time...

2 way communications in the event we need to talk to you...

A GPS locator chip so we know where you Roamers snuck off to....

Every security upgrade makes the show a little safer. By providing a safer environment we can expand the creativity of the actors, but remember there is still your personal safety zone...not your outstretched arm...but theirs!

This new security protocol will be explained in great detail every night at notes.

SALMON DAYS PARADE

Calling all Ghouls, Goblins, Witches, Warlocks, Fiends and Fairies!  We have our last Parade of the season and it’s going to be a big one! Issaquah Salmon Days parade, Saturday October1st .  We need you to come march with us and our beautiful Hearse through the streets of Issaquah, striking terror into the hearts of everyone! Or, at least, entertain them.  We need several makeup artists as well.  We do not have a time yet for meeting or prep, so please keep a watch out on our Scare FB page for updates.  There is a possibility of needing a few characters to stick around and work the Nightmare booth after the parade.

Jeannie will be taking orders for Scarewear at orientation. - $10 T's, $12 Tanks, $25 hoodies. Payment due at time of order, Cash or check to SCARE.
