Haunted Happenings - Nightmare at Beaver Lake Newsletter - Spring 2017
This indoor/outdoor haunted house experience is 100% volunteer produced, provides hundreds of hours of volunteer opportunities for local youth, and raises money for community charities. Thank you to all our volunteers who work so hard and have fun to make this happen – we couldn’t do it without you!

Scare Productions would also like to thank everyone who signed up for our second annual Tom Gonser Memorial Blood Drive! Once again, it was a huge success! We were able to collect 29 units of blood, which has a potential of saving 87 lives! Just amazing! Don't worry if you weren't able to make this year's blood drive; we will be hosting it again next year!

SCARE Donation Drive
Save the date! On July 29th, Scare will be holding our second annual donation drive at the Kent Value Village. Almost any donations are welcome, however there are a few exceptions; no electronics or appliances, they will accept small counter top appliances (ex. mixers, toasters etc.), and no furniture or mattresses. Things like clothing, blankets, and jewelry earn the most money! The more donations we can get, the more money that we will earn! If its easier or you know you will be busy on the 29th of July, please bring any donations you have to Nightmare's volunteer picnic coming up on June 11! We will gladly store your donations until the drive!
We will be participating in 2 parades this year. Renton River Days on July 22nd and Issaquah Salmon Days Oct 7th . We encourage our actors to come out and march with us. More info to follow on our SCARE FB group page and the website. Pugsley will be leading both of the parades again this year.
Volunteer Orientation – September 17th and 18th
Located at Beaver Lake Lodge – 12pm-3pm All volunteers with less than 2 years of service are required to attend 1 day of orientation. There is the possibility of an intro to actor training class from 3:30 – 5PM both days, provided we have enough interest. More info will come out in the fall newsletter.
Actor Training - October 7th and 8th - Beaver Lake Park
Actor training will be held from 11AM -3PM each day. There will not be a lunch break, and there are no food services in the park. Please bring a labeled water bottle (your fancy NIGHTMARE one, If you got one!) and snacks if you need them. All actors with less than 3 years of acting (in our show) are required to attend at least 1 day of actor training. All other actors are strongly encouraged to attend. This is where you will find out about the roles we have available for 2017. Training will be set specific. Did I mention that ALL ACTORS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND?! If enough interest at that time, there may be advanced training available from 3:30 – 4:30 each day.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFO
Work parties will begin weekly a the Kent shop every Wednesday night starting at 5:00 pm and will go until around 9. Its going to take a lot of work to build our 2017 Nightmare and we need YOUR help! There are all kinds of jobs from painting to fabrication. If you have time on a Wednesday night, please come down to help. We have a big year planned, and it will definitely need a huge team effort to pull it off. We will add more work nights throughout the summer. Stay tuned to the SCARE productions volunteer group on Facebook to keep updated!

Jeannie will be taking orders (and payment) for Scareware at the picnic. $10 fora T-shirt, $12 for a women’s tank and $25 for a hoodie. $5 extra for 2X and larger. Cash or check only. Orders will be placed immediately if we reach our minimums. If not, a second ordering date will take place at orientation. No orders will be taken after orientation.
Concerts in the park
We will once again be doing face painting for 'Concerts in the Park' at Pine Lake Park in Sammamish. This will be held every Thursday evening from July 13th until August 31st. Please contact Dawn Gonser at Dawn.Gonser@scare.com if you are interested in helping out!
